Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - ratling rear brake pads submitted by sean day on 08/05/2008 | | I have a 1998 mk 2 mr2 gt tbar I had all 4 brake pads changed from nationwide garage, and since this was done after about 10 mins of driving when brakes are warm, when you press the brake pedal you can hear the rear pads both go "clank" as they engage the disc. also they will make this noise when going over a bump such as a speed bump. I took it back to the garage who reconmended changing the disc's, how ever as the discs are only 2yrs old and it started makeing this noise imediately after the pads were changed I am inclined to believe the disc's are at fault any advice would be helpful. many thanks. |

Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - Seized left rear hand brake pulley? submitted by Naiomi on 13/08/2005 | | My left rear hand brake is not working. After inspecting the cable I found that it was torn so I invested in a new one. within minutes of driving I realised the car was not moving as fast as it should have been, like the hand brake was stuck on followed by smoke coming from the rear left brake. Thinking that the brake needed ajusting I did so by loosening the brake pulley which came off along with the spring. Trying to put it back on is a problam but also the callaper will not move like it maybe seized. If this is the case how do I unseize this problam? |

Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - 4 bolt to 5 bolt wheel conversion ???? submitted by Ray on 23/09/2003 | | I have a 1989 MKI with 4 bolt wheels. I'd like to convert them to 5 bolt pattern like the MKII. Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - Master Cylinder Seals Problem? submitted by Stephen Whiddett on 28/08/2003 | | When I apply the brakes the car slows as you'd expect but if I sit with pressure on the brake pedal it slowly sinks down. I suspect this is a master cylinder seal problem. Can anyone confirm? I also noticed that the US Haynes manual specs DOT3 brake fluid but previous owners receipts show me that DOT4 has been used. Is this likely to cause me any problems.
Does anyone know where I can get a mater cylinder repair kit or whether it would be more economical to get a reconditioned master cylinder? |
