Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - Sidelights and dash lights
submitted by Kev on 29/04/2008
A few weeks ago when i tried to turn on my sidelights in a car park they wouldnt turn on. I checked all fuses and nothing seemed wrong. Next day i checked and found a fuse that wasnt blown before. Replaced it and lights still didnt work. left it for half an hour and suddenly they were working again. ever since then they have been blowing the fuse and randomly not working when the fuse was ok. Now they refuse to work at all. Ive read that they are linked to the dashboard lights which also dont work when the sidelights are playing up. Any ideas where i can check for problems? as a side note the actual headlights still work and brake lights when i apply pressure to the pedal. but wont stay on when the sidelights switch is turned.

Toyota MR2 MK3 - Headlight on 52 plate MR-S Jap import
submitted by Garry Asprey on 16/04/2008
I have got the above car and both of the headlights have become misty inside giving the car a poor look from the front. I am looking to replace the lights, however i am not sure if i can put standard uk lights onto the car or if they have to be the Jap type. Are they both the same? Also any ideas on suppliers that are good and reliable? Thanks

Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - Alternate dipping headlights
submitted by Luke on 08/04/2008
This morning turned on my lights for a fairly frost day and found that one light came up a second or two before the other. On switching the lights off to see if they dropped at the same time one of the lights came down first and was followed by the other a second or two later. The lights, even though set to off, proceeded to then alternatly go up and down. This obviously looked very funny to other motorists but concerned how I would make it stop once I reched my destination. Eventually the lights both stayed down with the passengers side being an inch from fully closed. Anyone heard of this phenomeneon and if it continues how I correct?

Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - Pop up lights need help

Proud owner of 92 T-Bar The passenger side light does not pop up at all. I have checked the fuses but all seem ok. When i turn the lights on i can hear the box click and the drivers side pops up. The lights work but i'v now got a blister from trying to wind the thing up manually, which by the way is really stiff. Any ideas??

Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - Left headlight sticks
submitted by Dustin Z. on 08/05/2007
I got a 93 N/A and for about the last two months when I turn on the head lights the left headlight sticks for a split second then makes a loud cracking noise as if it were stuck on something then slapped loose. Then last night i tried to turn on the headlights and the right worked but the left wouldn't come up at all. So I turned the lights off and started to drive then about five min. later the left light made that cracking noise again and popped up about 1/4 inch even though i had all the lights off. Then i was able to turn the headlights on and they both popped up. Does anybody know whats wrong? Or how to fix it? If so please let me know.

Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - headlights stay up and off
submitted by John on 18/02/2007
Firstly, I am aware that this is not really a problem. I have read somewhere that the wiring on the car can be midified so that when the sidelights are on and the headlamps are flashed the headlights go back down after the flash instead of staying up and off. The problem is that I cannot remember where I read it :( can anyone advise me please?

Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - One headlight pod will not go fully down
submitted by Stacey on 22/12/2006
At work yesterday car skidded on ice and I had a minor prang with another car with headlights up. When i turned lights off they went down fine but one did not go fully down. It seems that this headlight is a bit loose now and maybe i have knocked off a catch or something. I wondered if anyone has any idea what could be the cause and how to take the headlight pod out or how to get into it. Thanks

Toyota MR2 MK2 N/A - head lights pop up but will not turn on......need help
submitted by Shakeel on 02/01/2005
In the past, a while ago, my head lights went out while I was driving, but then magically they came back to life a few hours later (I hadn't touched anything). Recently the lights have been working fine but then the other day I turned off the lights and noticed that the headlights would go down but they wouldn't shut off. So as a temporary fix, I pulled the fuses to turn the lights off. That was at night....the next morning I put the fuses back in and tested the headlights and everything was working just fine. The head lights would go up and down and shut on and off properly. That was 2 days ago. I didn't really play with it and once again it fixed itself. Now, the latest problem is that when I turn the headlights on, they pop up but they do not turn on. The parking lights work, the lights go up and down okay, but they don't turn on. The fuses are fine, everything else seems to be fine. What could the problem be? Is it a bad solder connection as described by other message posters? Will that fix the problem. Please let me know....it will be easier and cheaper to go to the source of the problem rather than try and replace everything. BTW, I have a non-turbo 93 mr2.

I have recently moved to Germany and have taken my RHD uk spec mark 2 t-bar with me. I now need to replace the headlights for ones that shine the light to the right as in a LHD car. Can anyone please confirm whether headlights from a an 88-95 model would fit as these are the only ones i can find anywhere! Or is there a simple fit (not stick on deflectors) like turning lights upside down and then swapping left for right? Thanks for any help
