It took me 2 years to figure this out, but on my '91 NA i eventually found out it was the left (from behind) engine mounting that needed realignment. Toyota MR2 MK1 N/A - Failed Emission Test submitted by DagW00d on 14/03/2004 | | My 89 MR2 failed the Hydrocarbons portion of the emission test. It's supposed to be under 0.80 (Composite), but it reads 2.22CO is OK @ 8.8, CO-2 is good @ 304.8. it's a standard 4AGE engine , I'm not certain if the previous owner didn't tweek it some. It has a modified air filter assembly. I have the original could that cause any problem.
